A small teddy bear, just 2.5 months, which left his mother would try to raise people's Arcturos at the premises of the Veterinary Station Wildlife Hospital, in Aetos of Florina.
Little John, as it was named, was found at noon
Thursday, April 14, workers from the wood processing plant in the region of Argos Orestiko, close to Aliakmonas.
Notified of the emergency response for Wildlife Arcturos who rushed to the spot and found the little bear very frightened but healthy and weighed eight pounds, then cried and ate with difficulty.
The cubs are born during the mother's sleep of winter and the nest acts as an incubator. They live with their mother for two years to learn to survive alone in nature.
To let the bear her cubs, there are two reasons: either chased away a large wild dogs, or being killed.
Unfortunately, the chance to live as a young bear is minimal, even with special care.
The team Arcturos in collaboration with scientists from the U.S., Dr. John Beetcham (former President of the International Bear Association), set up an entire business transfer to the small, without the presence of people in forest area in the vicinity of the point s in order to spend the night alone in the woods - with the constant surveillance of people Arcturos and automatic monitoring systems - and perhaps closer to his mother.
Unfortunately, efforts to find the mother bear was unsuccessful and little John "adopted" by Arcturus.
The bear just 2.5 months is still scared and nervous, but at least accept food and intensive care.
The bartender will be the first in Greece which will attempt to reintegrate into the wild after nearly 8-month treatment, according to international protocols.
At first, the care will be solely and only 2 caregivers with whom we come into contact every three hours to feed. We avoid any exposure to other human presence to not recognize the man as a friend but as a different kind.
After the first two months stay in the Veterinary Station Hospital, the bear will be transferred to the Special Area Rehabilitation has created ARKTOUROS, a fenced area of natural forest, 10 acres, where they will be monitored by cameras.
The ARKTOYROS will make every effort to have the little John a second chance to nature and to avoid another "captive" bear.
