Thousands of buildings will sink in Australia due to climate change

Thousands of buildings in coastal Australia will disappear from rising sea levels, according to a new study whose findings were disclosed today World Day Perivallontos.I study ...
entitled "Threats to the coastal areas" predicts the end of the century, the water level will rise one meter and ten points and will eliminate 35,000 km of roads and railways, 274,000 homes and 8,000 commercial buildings.

The cost of these changes will amount to 226 billion U.S. dollars (current money).

The same study indicates that the increase in global temperature extreme weather events will increase.

Already these phenomena cause a loss of one billion U.S. dollars although according to recent data losses from the floods and cyclone that hit the Queensland reached 6.8 billion. That's a billion dollars more than originally estimated.

Climate Change Minister, Greg Kompat, said the study released on to help people adapt to upcoming dangers ahead and to be convinced of the necessity to tax polluting industries in order to protect the environment.

On Sunday, environmental organizations and trade unions organized gatherings in major cities of Australia, to express their support to the government's decision Gkilarnt to impose a tax on pollution. Concentrations took place several thousand people.
