Faster boot into Windows 8

The most recent post on the official blog of Microsoft to develop Windows 8 reveals the company's plans for faster boot. Microsoft claims to have found the right balance between the cold boot and hibernate.

Until now, the choice has actively hibernate sessions of applications and the Windows kernel file hiberfil.sys. In contrast, the complete shutdown turn off everything and all start from the beginning to cold boot. The hybrid system is closed Microsoft applications, but puts it in standby hibernate core. Thus, the kernel does not need to load any startup, which translates into reduced startup time by 30-70% (according to tests by the company).

It should however be noted that this system is much more efficient on machines with Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) and less useful on computers with a traditional BIOS.
