Two iPhone 4 go walk in space

In the next mission spacecraft Atlantis, through the rest of the equipment, the astronauts will take two and iPhone 4.
The two devices will have an experimental application called SpaceLab for iOS, designed by ....
Odyssey Space Research.

With the vessel Atlantis reaches the International Space Station crew members will use their iPhone to conduct four experiments using the camera, gyroscope and other sensors of the device.
The detailed instructions are embedded within the application to not have to have them print the astronauts to complete the experiment.

Why the iPhone;

"The idea came when we first released the iPhone" says Brian Rishikof, CEO of Odyssey, and saw that the unit has a gyroscope. "
The Odyssey is developing software and simulations for various types of vessels.
The gyroscope meant that the iPhone could potentially be used in flight to determine the orientation of the vessel through space and its location.

The Rishikof emphasized the fact that the iPhone used in this mission as part of the experiment and not as an essential tool for guidance.

Yet, the astronauts all times there will appreciate tremendously to be able to play two to three platforms.
Angry Birds, eh?
