The default wallpaper of Windows XP is without doubt one of the most popular icons of the digital age. You wonder, though, what exactly does it show? Contrary to what many believe, is taking photographs and not an image created on a computer.
The Dutch version of Windows-only-this indicates a file name for the image the word Ireland, which led many to believe that this is a landscape in the homonymous island nation. However, the truth is that the photo was taken in Sonoma, California by American photographer Charles O'Rear.
The photo was taken in 1996, five years before the release of Windows XP. Not knowing the exact amount given to O'Rear to assign the picture, he nevertheless stated that he is an "exorbitant amount, the second highest given for picture after snapshots showing the former U.S. president Bill Clinton embrace the Monica Lewinski ». Note that the photo has not undergone any treatment, according to the photographer.
Ten years after its adoption in 2006, this point was again on the photo. This time, however, the outcome was far from impressive, as the position of the idyllic landscape had taken an indifferent vineyard.
