In all likelihood, the name of Albert Szent-Györgyi and tells you absolutely nothing. Thanks to Google, however, millions of people now learn about the Hungarian physician who in 1930 discovered vitamin C.
The Szent-Györgyi began to study Ο Szent-Györgyi medicine but eventually got bored and quit. Then he joined the army and participated in World War II serving in Health. After a while, but realized he could not live another in conditions of war and decided to return to civilian life. Of course, he could simply abandon the army, so he decided to shoot his hand (!!!) to win his freedom.
In 1930 he discovered vitamin C with his colleague Joseph Svirbely and seven years later won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their important contributions to science.
The home page of Google now displays a graphic with two oranges, so wanted to honor the great Hungarian doctor, who was born today as 118 years ago.
